Overcoming the consequences of the
Vietnamese chemical war: A long-term and difficult task

This paper
briefly reviews the chemical war caused by the US Army in Việt Nam,
the biggest chemical war of human kind. During this war, the US Army sprayed
about 80 million litres of toxic chemicals, including more than 20 substances,
most of which being the agent orange, a mixture of 2, 4D and 2, 4, 5T. The
consequences born by the Vietnamese people are very severe and long lasting,
continuously during the last several decades. The Vietnamese Government and
people have and have been paying due attention to overcome these consequences
in all aspects: economic, social, political and scientific, etc.. This, in the mean time, is also an objective the medical
geology, as a science, could contribute to help ease the consequences of this
war.
