Nowadays, the groundwater level in Hµ Néi area drops continuously due to the over exploitation of groundwater. This consequently results the land subsidence, deformation of buildings and local flooded areas. This paper is concentrated on analyzing the cases of ground stress change due to the lowering of groundwater level. Especially, the content of study shows that the features of geological structure have great influence to the change of ground stress state. This gives us also a right approach to land subsidence in areas of different geological structures. The causes of deformation of buildings due to land subsidence are also presented.
