The nature bestows our country many mineral resources, which are available sources for the economic development, beautiful landscapes, which are natural heritages not only of our country, but also of the whole mankind. At present, the geological hazards are developed with an increasing intensity before the destruction and change of worldwide environment. For guaranteeing the stable and sustainable urban development, we must have to plan the prevention, control and diminution of geological hazards and the protection of geological environment. In this article, the author presents the study results in some mountainous towns in North ViÖt Nam of the Division of Hydrogeology and Geological Engineering of North ViÖt Nam in the past years.
