The paper presents the results of study on the typomorphic characteristics of corundum from Quú Ch©u area. These results show that the Quú Ch©u corundum have typically high content of chromium (Cr2O3) and low content of iron (Fe2O3) and titanium (TiO2). The form of those crystals are usually high, well-proportioned, consisting of basal pynacoid, rhombohedral and prismatic faces. The typical inclusions include anatase, apatite, boemite, brookite, calcite, corundum, diasporre, dolomite, graphite, phlogopite, pyrite, rutile, zircon, zoisite. The liquid inclusions contain CO2, H2S and CO2-H2S-COS-S8-AlO(OH) - bearing fluids. The metamorphic and metasomatic origin of corundum is proposed on the basis of the results of this study.
