SUMMARY

Geological structure and characteristics of magnesite mineralization
of the Kong Queng area, Gia Lai Province

Ng« Všn Minh

A magnesite occurrence has been discovered in the Kong Queng area. First results of material composition study shows that magnesite ore belongs to the type of apodolomite. Genetic type is hydrothermal metasomatism. This is the most promising magnesite ore type in many regions of the world. Stratiform metasomatic bodies of crystallized magnesite occur in dolomite of metamorphic complex - the Phong Hanh Formation (e -S ph).

The study results on the structure of ore field show that the Kong Queng area is of high expectation area in the magnesite ore.

There are three tectonic deformation phases separated on the basis of tectonophysic analysis in study area. The first phase is indicated by the stress field with: s 1 = 85Ð 20; s 2 = 280Ð 60; s 3 = 190 Ð 20. The second phase is charaterized by: s 1 = 150Ð 25; s 2 = 330Ð 60; s 3 = 240Ð 10. The third phase has the of s 1 = 315Ð 15; s 2 = 220Ð 65; s 3 = 40Ð 20.

They are in accordance with the pre-, syn- and post - etages of the generation and accumulation of the magnesite ore.
