In previous years, many constructions of different scales and conditions were built in active karstic areas. Some problems have been raised when facing to geological engineering investigations requiring to be solved.

The paper deals with some characteristics of karstic development in active karstic areas of the country. In the other hand it also gives the uncertainties of geologic engineering investigations at present time and some necessary recommendations in order to upgrade the quality and effectiveness of geological engineering investigation for well meeting the demands of building design and field works.
