Role of bacteria in the oxydation process of sulphide minerals

NguyÔn V¨n B×nh

Basing on the results of determination of bacteria that exist in oxidized zone of sulphide ore deposits, the paper set forth the mechanism of dessolving processes of metals from sulphide minerals by living activity of bacteria. The results of an experiment dividing Ni and Fe from pentlandite and pyrrhotite by bacteria have been allowing to affirm that bacteria are an important agent for weathering of sulphide ore deposits.

The determination of the concentration and existence of bacteria in sulphide ore deposits forms the basis for nourishing and using them in the technique of dissolution of metals from sulphide mineral ores.
