The south of Trµ Nó – Phíc Thµnh area is located in the north margin of the Kon Tum Geoblock. The primary gold ore in the area was discovered in the years 1990-1991 and investigated and evaluated by geologists of the Geological Division of Middle Central ViÖt Nam (1997-2001). This is one of the richest gold ore area in the Middle of Central ViÖt Nam. For the first time, in the south Trµ Nó – Phíc Thµnh area gold characteristics were studied and described in detail based on intergrated and systematical research methods. The gold ore in the studied area belongs to the gold-quartz-sulphide formation and can be divided into two gold ore types: pyrite-quartz-gold type and polymetallic sulphide-quartz-gold type. Ore - bearing hosts are mainly old metamorphic rocks of Kh©m §øc Formation and young granitoid of Bµ Nµ Complex. The ore bodies are predominantly of single vein form and with lesser extend, in branching form, vein-zone form and disseminated form. The ore mineralogical composition includes: pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena, sphalerite, arsenopyrite, pyrrhotine, native gold, electrum etc... The gangue minerals consists mainly of quartz, feldspar, carbonate and a little sericite and chlorite. The ore is characterized by disseminated, spotty, vein, network, and filling penetration band textures. The widespread structures are allotriomorphic (anhedral), hypidiomorphic (subhedral), cataclastic, eroded, solid solution desintegration ones. Near-veined metasomatic processes comprise mainly beresitization, sericitization, and rarely - chloritization, carbonatization, and argillitization. The ore forming process occurred in many stages, including two major gold-forming stages, which can be grouped in medium hydrothermal type.
