The identification of original area of surficial sediment (soil) evidences is a necessary target of the forensic science. Various indices have to be used to do this target and the geochemical factors are part of them. The most common and valuable geochemical factors are: pH, Kt, Corg, Fe+2S/Corg and Fe2O3/FeO. Based on the initial results of investigation and collected data in these factors, the environment of surficial sediment in North ViÖt Nam can be divided into 12 principal types. The use of geochemical factors to determine sedimentary environments shows to be highly valuabe for identification of original area of surficial sediment evidences.
