Assessment of contamination by heavy metals of sediments in the Đà Nẵng Bay: Recommendations and solutions of prevention

Environmental geochemical research on marine sediments allows us to make a picture on element distribution and concentration, particularly, the research on characteristics of elements and their compound distribution that exists as exchanged-absorbed anion-cation. Some chemical elements, especially heavy metal group: Hg, Cd, Cu, Pb... are very flexible, when they exist in the anion-cation form. They cause heavy metal pollution to bottom sediment environment and penetrate into organism by disgestive line and then influence directly or indirectly to human health.

This article is aming to set forth study results on some subjects in bottom sediment environment during recent years in the Đà Nẵng Bay, such as Eh, pH characteristics, ion distribution in bottom sediments, pollution and pollution potential estimation, then to suggest reasonable recommendations for the studied area.
