SUMMARY

Some results of basic survey on geology and minerals in the litteral areas of Việt Nam

Based on geological investigations and natural resource survey, on potential geohazard forecast and study, the preventing solutions for establishing plans and infrastructure for marine economy sustainable development are necessary and important tasks which have been carried out by the Marine Geology and Mineral Resources Centre (MGMC) of the Vietnamese General Department of Sea and Islands since 1991.

During 19 years, MGMC has been carrying out geological investigations and prospecting for minerals in littoral areas (0-100 m water depth), many geological reports have been delivered to the Geological Archives. Since 2000 to present time, MGMC has been participating and presiding over many techno-scientific subjects at national level, some of them belong to the Sea studying Program (KC-09) and others. Many maps of natural conditions, non-organic resources, geohazards, and geoenvironmental state have been transferred to partners to establish economic sustainable development of marine and coastal zone plans.

For marine economic development to the year 2020, MGMC has been suggesting the orientation of task survey and solutions for providing with knowledges about coastal, littoral zones, and continental shelf of Việt Nam.
