Paleo-earthquake and paleotsunami investigation in Việt Nam

According to the paleo-earthquake and paleotsunami investigation in Việt Nam, the following conclusions can be made:

1. Maybe, one paleo-earthquake occurred in the Phong Thổ area during the time of from 480 to 530 years ago with the magnitude of about 8.0;

2. Before the Tuần Giáo 1983 Earthquake M6.7, in this area maybe occurred one earthquake in about 420-430 years ago with the magnitude of about 7.0;

3. Three tsunamis were observed in the Vietnamese coast line in 380, 610, and 960 years ago. The height of these tsunamis can reach 18 m.
