Seismic characteristics of South East Asia subduction zones

Some characteristics of seismic activity of the SE Asia subduction zones have been shown in this article:

1. Earthquakes of great hypocenter depth usually occur in subduction zones, while intraplate earthquakes have only the depth of less than 60 km.

2. The duration of seismic gaps (earthquakes with the magnitude of less than 7.0) in subduction zones is less than 30 years.

3. The danger of M ≥7 earthquake occurrences in the period of 2006-2010, defined by M8 algorithm, may happen in Sumatra, Java, and Manila subduction zones.
