Structural features and models of water-bearing structure in Cát Bà Island

This paper introduces the study results about geological structure of the Cát Bà Island and features of carbonate-bearing water layers, which were sealed by clay shale, clay-chert beds and sea water. These characters make the difference about hydrological conditions from other limestone massifs, such as Đồng Văn Highland, Đồng Mu, Bắc Sơn limestone massifs. Basing on the tectonic and geological studies, the authors give some water-bearing models in the Cát Bà Island. These water-bearing structures were controlled by the Indosinian tectonic phase and specially by Cenozoic phase.
