SUMMARY

Feature of tectonic and structural factors controling sericite mineralization in Sơn Bình area, Hà Tĩnh

Nguyễn Thị Thanh Thảo

Sericite mineralization bodies in Sơn Bình area are distributed in fractured rhyolitic tuffs of the lower part of the Đồng Trầu Formation. These bodies are entirely controlled by the SE-NW thrust fault system. This fault system was a channel to conduct hydrothermal fluids into rhyolitic tuffs and caused the alteration of tuffs to form sericite bodies. The sericite bodies appear as discontinued lenses, filling in the opened or curve sections of fractured zones and develop along the strike of the fault system Sencite mineralization is characterized by horizontally compositional zoning with highly concentrated levels of sericite (34-40%) and larger sericite particle size in the central fracture zone; as far as this zone the sericite content and its particle size tend to descending to bedrock.
